Wentwood Labradoodles are specialist breeders of Poodle Crosses. We breed F1, F1b and F2b puppies. We do not breed beyond F2 as we believe that by doing this you are recreating the very pedigree monster you are trying to get away from. To breed beyond this point in a healthy way would require a huge number of dogs.
Ethical breeding is the core of our breeding policy and we do not line or in breed. To go beyond F2 would inevitably require line or in breeding which defeats the whole purpose of cross breeding.
We believe anyone breeding beyond F2 is doing so for appearance (coats) sake to produce a “designer dog” and not for the future wellbeing of dogs. Because we outbreed puppies in our litters are all slightly different, as are your children, and this is their strength.
We breed several different types of Poodle cross and we hope this sheet will help you decide on the puppy to suit you.
It is important to note that as we specialise in cross breeds no guarantee can be given to height, weight or adult colour. We endeavour to give you approximate figures based on the parents, previous litters and our experience. However, as with your children, when you are breeding from a broad genetic base you will get variation within a litter and some puppies will mature larger or smaller and can resemble their grandparents or even great grandparents both in size weight and colour.
It can be very confusing when you read all the information on the web - we have tried to simplify it in this information sheet.
WHY DO YOU CROSS WITH A POODLE?• To produce the most beautiful coats which are extremely tactile and either low or non shedding
• To increase the intelligence and ease of training
• To reduce the dander allergen
• To increase the interaction between the dog and humans (poodles are the true showmen of the dog world) and love people and children
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN F1, F1b and F2b ? F1 puppies are the first generation cross from the pedigree pure bred parents and are 50% Poodle and 50% the other Pure Bred. They are normally very healthy and have all the health benefits of what is termed hybrid vigour.
One of the greatest benefits of the F1 is that they are far apart genetically –this gives good health, far less genetically inherited disease and an outstanding temperament and mentality. We choose breeds that compliment each other to overcome any hereditary faults in either breed.
F1B puppies are an F1 crossed back to an unrelated pure breed (normally another Poodle) and are 75% Poodle and 25% other breed. These puppies normally have a very low or non shedding coat and a lower allergen level. In some crosses this produces a fleece (wool) coat.
F2b puppies are an F1b crossed back to an F1 making them 62.5% Poodle and 37.5% other breed. Again this cross gives highly trainable dogs with the most beautiful low/non shedding coats.
ALLERGIES
Poodle crosses especially F1b Labradoodles are LESS allergenic to many people but no one can guarantee that you or your children will not be allergic to them if you are already allergic to other dogs. Anyone with a severe allergy especially asthma should consult their doctor and have allergy testing carried out before even considering purchasing a puppy. It is traumatic for all the family for a pup to have to be rehomed because of allergies. Please think carefully.
Dog or Bitch? With Poodle crosses it really doesn’t matter which. We recommend you neuter your puppy at between six and eight months. Dogs and bitches are equally easy to train. As a general rule dogs are larger than bitches in height and weight.
We have listed in order of size (largest first) the Poodle crosses available. Heights shown are the adult height at the top of the shoulders. Remember it is not just height that increases but the overall weight and size of the dog.

AVAILABILITYOur website is kept updated with information on the latest litters. Occasionally we have cancellations available at short notice.
We cannot forecast litters into the future as we mate our bitches naturally and do not induce seasons. If you telephone we can only give you due dates for puppies due to be born in the next 8 weeks.
Puppies leave us at 8 weeks of age therefore we are able to give you information on puppies that will be ready to leave us over the next 4 months.
Many Poodle crosses are black and you will often have to pay a premium or be first to book if you want a light coloured puppy.
It is important to note that as we specialise in cross breeds no guarantee can be given to height, weight or adult colour. We endeavour to give you approximate figures based on the parents, previous litters and our experience.
